September 2015

September 1-6, 2015
We finished up or Eastern Europe trip and headed back to London. We got back an it was so cold! We went from shorts to everyone wearing winter coats. Upon arriving in London we were definitely not dressed for the weather. After swim class on Saturday, we went grocery shopping and Harvey sat in the cart for the first time. He was pretty excited and loved looking around while also looking at mom and dad.

Got a big check off my bucket list this week...a tour of Highclere Castle, where Downton Abby takes place. It was a bit of a trek out there but we had so much fun!

Tickets are purchased online, but sell out very quickly. Luckily, we all were able to purchase tickets for the same time slot. We met at Paddington Station and started our journey. It didn't seem like a long ride because we chatted the whole way. We got to tour the castle and see some of the rooms that are used for the show. We had lunch outside, and walked around the property. The gardens were beautiful.

Josh and Harvey stayed home and had a boys day. Harvey had a runny nose, and loved cuddling with dad.

Buckingham Palace was open again for its one month tour season. We went last year, and it was one of my favorite tourist things in London. Our tickets got validated, so they last a year. Our expiration date was coming up so we wanted to be sure we got to go again. It was still as amazing as the first time I went. They had an exhibit set up featuring the kitchen and fashion of the Queen. If the Queen invites you over for dinner, RSVP yes!

We ventured out to Islington to get my bridesmaid dress altered. Of course we had to eat at Five Guys while we were there. We stopped at Utterlicious for the famous ice cream and recommendation from Rachael. I tried Honeycomb, and really like it. Harvey really wanted a bite!

The girls and I had a free night, and decided to take a Jack the Ripper tour. I had done this when we first arrived, but it was great to get a refresher. We went with London Walks tour and on Sunday nights, the Ripper expert, Donald Rumbelow guides the tour. He had so much great information and was very interesting to listen to.

Our weekly outing was to The Bank of England Museum. The best part was getting to hold a real bar of GOLD! It was much heavier than I expected. We met up with some new wives, its fun meeting new people and adding to the group. After the museum we had lunch at Pizza Express and took a scenic walk by the Thames.

The weather over the weekend was beautiful, and Josh had to work so the Stones and I went to the Battersea Park Zoo. The zoo is much cheaper than the London zoo AND we had a 2 for the price of 1 voucher. I loved the zoo. It was pretty small but had some great animals...even monkeys! Harvey loved watching the otters and meerkats get fed.

After the zoo, we went to the lake in Battersea Park and had a snack. I will be so sad once winter hits London and we don't get out as much.

Hanging out with Dad on Sunday before dad had a football watching party and mom went to a Downton Abbey watching party at Mary's flat.

We have missed so many Bounce and Rhyme sessions so I was ready to get back to it. Harvey is much more active now. He rather crawl around and play with the puppets than sit with me and sing. I guess he sees me enough at home :)

After Bounce and Rhyme we went to the street market in Pimlico, Tachbrook Street Market. Mary and I recently got up the guts to try it out, and YUM! Its really inexpensive and a 3 minute walk from our flat, so Im sure I will be going a bunch. Remy was also very interested in it. I got the falafel plate with grilled halloumi cheese (thanks to Matt Stone for forcing me out of my comfort zone to try this cheese!).

Harvey pulls to stand on everything, he has perfected crawling and can move fast! He enjoys pushing his walker around the house. His favorite book is Dear Zoo and he has already ripped a page out, his favorite fruit is banana and he loves climbing all over dad.
