August 2015

August 1- 9, 2015
31 Weeks (with his buddy, Matt)
This week was another tube strike. We were out of town for the first one so I only heard stories. For those who don't live in a city that depends on public transportation, its a huge mess. Many Londoners work from home, or get a hotel close to their office. Buses still ran but were so incredibly crowded. The girls and I had reservations at an exclusive restaurant, Duck and Waffle so we braved the strike. Thanks to Uber for saving the day. Duck and Waffle was located on the 40th floor and we really enjoyed the city views. We all got the Full Elvis. It was amazing! Waffles with peanut butter, jelly, bananas brûlée, nuts, berries, and chantilly cream. Delicious!

The rest of the week we took a family vacation to Malta.

2 bottom teeth- 32 weeks
Big boy cup- 32 weeks

Not his best picture but teeth are hard to capture! Poor Harvey has been working on these teeth for a few months now. He hit the hardest part on our way home from Malta, but then these 2 lil guys popped out!

We went to Rodizio Brazil, in Clapham with the Stones. It was fun to explore a new area, and our first experience of an all you can eat Brazilian steakhouse.

This weekend we went to our first show as a family of 3! London had a special showing of Annie Jr. Basically a shortened version of Annie, with all the great songs. It was open to all ages. Harvey did awesome! He even watched most of it. He loves watching kids so the little girls grabbed his attention.

After Annie, we had lunch at Five Guys. Delicious as always! Harvey tried his first piece of cheese. Of course he loved it, do you know who his parents are? The biggest cheese lovers!
The pups went to the park this weekend, and had a blast. Remy looks so regal. She loves London because we see so many whippets at the park. We never saw whippets in Texas! Remy is now on Instagram, follow her London adventures.

33 Weeks, oil inventory with mom
Josh is in Nottingham this week so we kept it low key. Harvey fed himself avocado and bananas. He hated avocados when I fed them mashed up, but likes to feed himself in little bites. It was a rainy week so we didn't get outside much. I felt like Harvey was getting bored, so I got him a ball pit. He loved it!

My favorite London foodie, Rachael, had a birthday, so we all went out and celebrated with food trucks. We went to Dinerama, and I tried Mama Wangs. It was on the "21 food trucks that will change your life" list, and I will say it was AMAZING!!! Rachael has hit up all 21 places, this was her last stop. They hand pull the noodles right in front of you. I got the bang bang noodles with eggplant (aubergine). Unfortunately, I was so excited to try it that I forgot to take a picture. They are hard to track down, but if I ever see them I will definitely get it again.
No better way to celebrate a birthday than with You Doughnut
Sunday morning Harvey did this...

34 Weeks

Harvey really wants to stand up! He now crawls around with his legs up. Silly lil monkey.
This week we traveled around Eastern Europe...Budapest, Vienna, and Prague.
Ready to go!
35 Weeks
First time in the grass, in Prague!

Harvey has 2 bottom teeth, he likes to feed himself and usually uses his left hand. His favorite fruit at the moment is watermelon, and he makes a huge mess! He crawls everywhere and pulls up to stand, he also says "dada", but not with a purpose yet (unless he's always asking for dada). He has traveled to Malta, Budapest, Vienna, and Prague.

Malta, August 7-10, 2015

Josh came to me talking about a place he wanted to visit, Malta. I felt very ignorant, as I had never heard of it. Malta is an archipelago in the central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast.

British rule in Malta lasted until 1964, when Malta became independent. The Maltese adapted the British system of administration, education, and legislation. Malta became a Republic in 1974, and joined the European Union in May 2004. Malta is also where the movie Popeye was filmed. There is  a theme park on the island with the movie set and props.

My first impression of Malta, was how pretty it was. This trip was planned to be more of a relaxing one, rather than running around trying to see tons of sites. Malta was perfect for this.

Our hotel, The Westin Dragonara was fancy and more of a resort. It had many restaurants within the hotel, so you wouldn't ever have to leave. We enjoyed the 2 pools, and mini beach on the property. The beaches were not beautiful white sand blue water, but they were pretty in their own way.
Great view
In the Mediterranean Sea
We ventured out on the bus to the capital city, Valletta. This is the smallest and southernmost capital in the European Union.

Palace and guards

I tried a local soda, Kinnie, that was described as "bittersweet with a blend of Mediterranean chin otto bitter oranges, with an infusion of a dozen aromatic herbs and spices including anise, ginseng, vanilla, rhubarb, and licorice". It was fun to try a local soda, but not really something I would drink.

Spelt ravioli and Garganelle
Delicious dinner at Palio's located in our hotel. We had a great table overlooking the Sea. The customer service was also top notch!

Statue by the marina with a fisherman tossing a fish to a cat. We walked around and watched the boats come in with their daily catch. Then we enjoyed an amazing dinner at Truffle & Truffles. It was also a bonus that it was so close to our hotel.

Our last day we just hung at the pool and beach. The weather was perfect! We had a great restful family vacation in Malta.
