My Oil Experience, September 15-21, 2014

My Erin Condren planner is pretty colorful this week! Here they call it a diary, but either way I'm excited to be a bit busy.
I attended an interest meeting for the American Women's Club (AWC) in London. This is a social group of American women who have moved to London. They have lots of social activities they host during the day. It seems really fun, and would keep me entertained during the day, but I have not decided if I will be joining yet.

On Thursday, I met up with some other wives from Josh's work. We had fun and enjoyed some yummy cupcakes. I love meeting up with them as it takes me to different neighborhoods and gives me someone to talk to during the day. I hope we can keep this going and get together once a week. We also had our midwife appointment on Thursday. Josh met me at the station and we headed to the office together. We met one of the midwives and she just went throught the regular health questions...but then we got to listen to Baby K's heartbeat. She started smiling and said, "do you hear that? He has hiccicups" It was really cute! I have been reading that you can feel hiccicups around now but I hadn't yet. Everything looked good and we are scheduled to see Doctor, I mean Mr. Barnick the beginning of October. Josh and I went to Pizza Express for dinner since it's right by the hospital and they have a 2 for 1 special going on using our TasteCard. Yum!

Now for the crazy part of my week...
I have never considered myself a "natural" person. If something hurts, I take medicine. If I get sick, I go to the doctor. I mean sometimes we buy organic milk and produce but that's about the extent of it. Being pregnant, I haven't taken any medication but being in a different country where none of the over the counter meds are recognizable or have their ingredients listed, I have really stayed away. I have heard of friends in the States using essential oils such as Young Living and doTerra and I was always interested but nothing ever came of it. I mean...common what can oil do that Tylenol can't? And I was too busy to look into it. Being pregnant I had a few friends mention using oils for them and their newborns so it sparked my curiosity. Since I have some free time I did tons of research as to which company is "better". Everyone has their own opinions but I was more interested in the facts and research. I found Young Living to be far superior than any other company. They are the only ones guaranteeing their product from the "seed to seal" of the bottle. They run all the farms that their products are produced in. If a crop is not up to their standards or runs out they don't make the product. Nothing synthetic or any type of filler is added that happens in other companies. I just liked the peace of mind of knowing exactly what was in this little bottle and it passed many high standards. I went to an info meeting a few weeks ago and decided to buy a starter kit and see what I thought. I have dabbled in a few oils, used them on myself, Josh, and even the pups all with positive outcomes. Well, YL had a big conference coming up and it happend to be super close to our flat so I had to attend! It was this weekend, Fri-Sun. Josh was very excited to have nothing on the calendar and play his video games while I was out.

Friday, they had us meet at Victoria Station and provided a coach (bus) for us to take a 2 hour ride to Kimbolton and see their office headquarters. It was a bit scary because I was doing this adventure all by myself and many were friends or came in groups. I randomly met a lady that was from the US! She had won this trip through her YL group. I hung with her and her husband the whole weekend. They were so kind and welcoming, we were meant to meet at that bus stop. Funny how things work out. Anyways, back to the office tour...it was out in the countryside and was beautiful! They had a fabulous lunch spread out for us. It was all natural and a lot of it was made with YL oils. Not things I would normally order but so glad I tried everything because it was delicious. We got to tour the distribution center and meet all the UK staff.

Saturday and Sunday the conference was at the Queen Mary II Convention Center, also too close to my flat to miss. So many countries were there representing! They had it being translated in 7 languages including Icelandic! It was very impressive, but not a large as the one in Utah I was told. I think there were around 700 in attendance here. The speakers were awesome, but the Americans were my favorite. They kept telling them to slow down because people couldn't understand them! I got to hear from Dr. Oliver Wenker, Tom Schreiter, Monique McLean, and Teri Lee Secrest. We were served another yummy lunch with unexpected items for my palate, but tasty and healthy. Sunday consisted of small breakout sessions and I made sure to attend Using Oils With Your Pet. So much useful info that I plan to try on Cricket and Remy! They were serving NingXia Red smoothies that were delicious and we got a special GoUK celebration oil for attending.

Saturday we meet up with the Stones for another TasteCard dinner. Gosh, we are really taking advantage of this 2 for 1 card we got for a month trial! This time was Pimlico Spice, an Indian restaurant in our neighborhood. It was really good! I am not a huge Indian food fan, but so far London is 2 for 2 in my experience. Sunday night, I was starving and I didn't feel like cooking so Josh and I went to Prezzo in Victoria Station (TasteCard again!). It was okay, just Italian. But I did find an area of new restaurants to try!
